GTCallerID |
|
Frequently Asked Questions |
Upon purchase of GTCallerID, a message will be generated and sent to the email address you listed with Handango, containing your Email and Reference ID. You will need this information, along with the 2 "Key Codes" that are generated from installing the initialization portion of the GTCallerID program.
In the zip file from the
initialization portion of the MicrCam, there are 2 files:
README.txt
GTAct.jad
GTAct.jar
Using myJAL or WebJAL R01.01.02, transfer the 2 files (.jad & .jar) to your
phone.
Instructions on using WebJAL
When the program starts it will list your 2 activation keys. The keys will be
similar to this:
Example: (These
will not work in activation for your phone)
Key 1
4AA8E26F42124148FBF093D6E7AC23E3
Key 2
979511B7461514B6144F9F02B0434E5B
"Key Codes" will be used to generate a version that will run on your
phone. Please be sure to note these codes down. If the "Key
Codes" are entered into our web page incorrectly, the program will not run
on your phone.
Once you have your Email, Reference ID and 2 "Key Codes",
you will need to do one of the following Activation methods.
Activation Methods:
--------------------------------
1. WAP Activation
2. COMM Assisted Web Activation
3. Web Activation
--------------------------------
1. WAP activation
--------------------------------
WAP is possible for people with plans from Nextel that allow them to open socket
connections. Enter your Email and Reference ID into the fields and
press the WAP button and it will send your information to the server. The screen
will display "Success" and the activated version will be emailed to you in
approximately 10 minutes.
WAP socket connections are not the same as having internet access. If you are
not sure you can try the wap activation. The only thing that will happen if you
don't have socket connections in your rate plan is that the connecting screen
will eventually display an error message. If you get the error message, you more
than likely have a plan that does not allow socket connections, but if you have
access to a computer on the internet you can follow the Web Activation
instructions.
An activated version will be sent to you in a matter of 10 minutes after
successfully entering your information.
Once activation is complete the GTCallerIDActivator midlet can be deleted from
the phone.
2. COMM assisted Web Activation
--------------------------------
To reduce the possible errors in entering the activation keys, the COMM Assisted
web activation method generates the URL for you so you can easily activate the
product. It uses the data cable and a program called HyperTerminal that is
distributed with many versions of windows and a free trial version is also
available at
http://www.hilgraeve.com/htpe/
Connect your phone to your computer using the USB or Serial data cable.
Start the HyperTerminal applications by selecting
Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> HyperTerminal -> HyperTerminal
or
Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> HyperTerminal ->
HyperTerminal
From within the HyperTerminal application, select the
File -> New Connection
menu item from the drop down menus located at the top of the application.
Choose a name as well as an icon for the new connection, something like “i730”,
and click on the “Ok” button.
Select the Communication port the data cable is connected to, typically COM1 or
COM2. If you are using a USB cable look at Modems in the Control Panel and
that will tell you what comm port the USB driver is using.
A properties dialog box appears. Configure the bits per second to coincide with
the Baud Rate set on the i730 (usually 19200). Set the Data bits to 8, Parity to
None, Stop bits to 1, and Flow control to Hardware.
From the keyboard, type the following AT command to turn on Java debug.
AT+WS46=252;+WS45=0;+IAPPL=2;D
You can cut and paste this into the HyperTerminal window.
It should respond with
OK
Now run the GTCallerIDActivator app, enter your Email and Reference
ID, and select the COMM menu button.
This will generate a URL on the HyperTerminal screen that you can cut and paste
into a web
browser and will activate your product.
Exit HyperTerminal and disconnect your phone.
An activated version will be sent to you in a matter of 10 minutes after
successfully entering your information.
Once activation is complete the GTCallerIDActivator midlet can be deleted from
the phone.
3. WEB Activation
--------------------------------
WEB Activation is accomplished by going to the following link
http://blakertp.homelinux.org/Activator/webact
Enter your Email, Reference ID and your 2 "Key Codes".
(Please check to make sure that you entered your information correctly.
Our site only allows 1 attempt.) An activated version will be sent to you
in approximately 10 minutes upon validation of your information with our
database.
Once activation is complete the GTActivator midlet can be deleted from
the phone.
Please also read the text file.
Key Codes are two 32 character numbers and letters that will be displayed on your phone when you install the activation app (the first part you get when you purchase at Handango). They are not codes that we will send to you.
If you cannot see your Key Codes, check to make sure that you are not running an inverted palatte.
Once your purchase is made through Handango, they send Greentech an email with your purchase information. That information is automatically entered into our system and an email is generated. That email will be sent to the email address you listed through Handango containing your username and password. Emails are set to go out every 5 minutes.
Updates are generated automatically and emailed to the address you listed when purchased through Handango (Unless you updated your address with us). Update Emails are mailed out at approximately 1 email every 30 seconnds.
All our emails are generated and sent automatically. If you have not received an email from us after purchasing the product with you User Name and Reference ID or the activated application after completing one of our activation methods, then you need to do one of the following:
1. Change your email account junk mail/spam filter settings to allow URL's and Zip file attachments. Then send us an email at greentech@nc.rr.com informing us that you did not receive our program and you would like us to resend it.
2. Send us a different email address with less security. We will manually change your email address in our records and all correspondences (updates and notices) will go to that account from then on.
If it exits after the 2 grants then the keys that were used for activation are incorrect. Please run the Green Tech Aactivator and email me the corrected keys. The best way for me to received the correct keys is to use the COMM activation method in the readme.
I have started some help with the process at
http://blakertp.homelinux.org:83/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?CommPort
I am the only one that can update keys so the web forms wont work if you try to use them. Em ail me the coreected keys with your ref id and you will receive a version for those keys.
Please read the User's Guide.
Please send an email to greentech@nc.rr.com with the subject line of Email Address Change. Give us your old email address and what you would like it changed to.
Please send an email to greetech@nc.rr.com stating that your old phone was replaced. You will need to also include the Key Codes for the new phone. One Key Code should be the same as it was on your old phone.
